NOTE: The majority of the family members listed here were born in Oklahoma and spent the majority of their lives there. Oklahoma records are not easily accessible online; therefore, there are many holes in the documentation. Perhaps over time a more complete record can be obtained through communication with the county clerk offices in Oklahoma.
John T. (J T) Jordan was the great-grandfather of Jake Albert Jordan and my 3x great-grandfather. He was born in January 1851 to James S. Jourdan and Wincey Sarah Macon Jourdan of Hardeman County, Tennessee. On 30 October 1869 J T married Martha Jane "Dolly" Macon. They were farmers in Hardeman County and had three children: J M (a son born in 1873; full name unknown), M E (a daughter born in 1878; full name unknown), and William Albert. For more information about J T Jordan click here.
William Albert was born in February 1876 in Hardeman County, Tennessee. Although, Albert never attended school he was able to read and write. He married Emmaline Narcissus "Emma" Edgar on 28 June 1896 in Fannin County, Texas. In 1900, Albert and Emma are listed on the Federal Census as renting a home in Fannin County where Albert worked as a farmer. By 1910 they had moved to Kiowa County, Oklahoma; presumably because in Oklahoma they were able to own their own farm rather than renting. In 1930 the family owned a cotton farm in Headrick, Oklahoma. Between 1930-1935, most likely due to economic issues, Albert and Emma moved to Artesia, New Mexico (in Eddy County) where Albert worked as a street resurfacer.

According to the 1940 Federal Census William only worked 7 weeks in 1939. In New Mexico, William worked as a foreman for city emergency services. Eventually they moved to Texas where William died in 1964. After his death, Jewel returned to Snyder, Oklahoma where she died on 22 June 1984 at the age of 84.
